With everything going on the world, many companies are focusing on surviving the lock-down with the thoughts that everything will go back to normal on the 16th of April here in South Africa.
It seems to me that these are the dinosaurs of our age! Because whilst no one has a crystal ball, and knows for certain what WILL happen, there is one thing that is for sure - things will NOT go back to "normal" for a long time!
With this in mind, its time to build and plan for the future - a future that includes virtual companies, remote workers and lean and mean teams leveraging existing logistics and manufacture services to deliver the non-remote components of their business. I think that the sooner people adapt, the sooner they will realise the benefits that this new economy can bring.
Of course, this will create havoc for landlords, and for many "non-core" employees who will join the ranks of the unemployed. It is going to be incumbent on these new organisations to build into their business psyche the concept of supporting their local communities in some way to ease the burden of the lost jobs - this is going to HAVE to become a new expense line for any morally upstanding corporation to have.
I look forward to the challenges ahead. # #optimistic #perspective
